FSD Subscription Guide

This guide explains how to subscribe to Full Self-Driving (FSD) if subscriptions are not available in your region.

Overview​

If FSD subscriptions are not available in your region, you can work around this by creating a Tesla account in a region where FSD subscriptions are offered (e.g., Canada) and transferring your vehicle to that account. This allows you to subscribe to FSD for 99 CAD/month (~60 EUR).

Step 1: Create a Canadian Tesla Account​

  1. Go to the Tesla website.
  2. In the top right corner, make sure you have the correct region selected: Canada/English.
  3. Click on the account icon in the top right.
  4. Click Create Account.
  5. Fill in your details and complete the account creation.

Step 2: Transfer Your Vehicle​

  1. Open the Tesla app on your phone (logged into your original account).
  2. Tap the three lines in the top right to open the menu.
  3. Go to My Products.
  4. Select the car you would like to transfer.
  5. Tap Remove or Transfer Ownership.
  6. Tap Get Started.
  7. Select that you have sold the vehicle to an individual.
  8. Press Next.
  9. Enter the details of your newly created Canadian account.
  10. Complete the verification process.

After verification, your car should now appear on your new Canadian Tesla account.

Step 3: Subscribe to FSD​

  1. Open the Tesla app and log in with your Canadian account.
  2. Go to Upgrades.
  3. Subscribe to Full Self-Driving (Supervised).

Your vehicle now has a valid FSD entitlement, and the CAN mod board can enable FSD at the CAN bus level.

Integration with Tesla Open CAN Mod​

Once you have an active FSD subscription:

  1. Flash the Tesla Open CAN Mod firmware with the FSD_ACTIVATION feature enabled
  2. The mod will send the FSD activation frame on the CAN bus
  3. Your vehicle's main MCU will detect the FSD entitlement and unlock FSD features
